We know that writing statements can be a time consuming and often daunting task, so here at Bright Plan Management, we’ve answered some frequent questions to make the process as easy as possible.
What is a Carer Statement?
A Carer Statement is written by someone who cares for a family member or friend who has a disability. The statement outlines the level of care they give and the level of support the person requires. It is used to support an NDIS application and helps the NDIA determine the level of care needed.
What’s the difference between an Impact Statement and a Carer Statement?
Nothing! Under the NDIS, Impact Statement and Carer Statement are just two names for the same thing.
Do I have to include a Carer Statement in my application?
No, you don’t. While a Carer Statement provides great insight into an applicant’s disability and level of care required, it isn’t a required document.
What should a Carer Statement include?
A Carer Statement should outline the supports the applicant already receives and address the following:
Daily Living
Home
Health and Wellbeing
Social and Community Participation
Life Choices and Control
Skills Development and learning
Employment
