Providing feedback to the NDIS

While it’s uncommon, the NDIS can make mistakes. When the mistake is in relation to a major part of your support and wellbeing, it can be distressing.

Here at Bright Plan Management, we’ll walk you through the steps to take if you think the NDIS has made a mistake in your plan. Just like any other organisation striving to serve its customers, the NDIA welcomes feedback.

Step 1: Request a review

If you feel that your plan does not reflect your goals or that you have been deemed ineligible for a service you believe you need, request an internal review as the first step.

You have three months from when you receive your plan to request a review, so it’s important to not wait too long.

Before requesting your review, consider if there is any more information you could provide that would alter the decision. Think about the information you have already provided and consider whether this clearly outlines your disability and required level of support.

Once a review is requested, it will be handled by an NDIA staff member who was not involved in the original decision. The NDIA will then let you know via letter the outcome of the review.

Step 2: AAT Review

If you are unhappy with the result of the internal review, the next step is to apply for an external review. The external review is conducted by the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) which is entirely outside the NDIA, so you can trust that it will be a completely objective process.

It’s important to note that an AAT review can only be requested after an internal review has been completed, and must be requested within 28 days of receiving the internal review’s decision. Head here to read more and apply for an AAT review.

Step 3: General Feedback

As we mentioned before, the NDIS welcomes feedback. If you would like to pass on feedback about your NDIS experience, you can do so here.
